Playing catch up!

Wow, I can't believe that it has been that long since I last posted. So I now have a whole month to catch everyone up on. So to begin with the month of October was very fun, the first weekend we drove up the North Fork and hit some wineries and found some fabulous wine. The next weekend we went up to Maine for mini vacay and loved it. Maine never seems to disappoint. We went shopping and just hung around at the resort we stayed at. And we were lucky enough that our favorite road side lobster shack was still open and we got to enjoy the BEST lobster rolls ever! And believe me out here there are many lobster rolls to try. Next came my birthday which was just ok, being so far away from family and friends made me want to skip my birthday this year but we did have a nice dinner at a fondue place. The rest of the month just flew by to quickly and now we are in November.

November will again be a busy month for us. We are going tonight to a new Bobby Flay restaurant here on Long Island which we are looking forward to. Tomorrow we are going to catch a matinee showing of Avenue Q on Broadway which I am really excited for. I think that the idea of a play done with puppets is hilarious! And in a little over a week will be heading back to Colorado for Thanksgiving! We are both really looking forward to this, it has been way too long since we have been home.

In book news I finished Brisinger which I still found boring after finishing it and have now moved on to a biography on Georgiana The Duchess of Devonshire. I am loving this book, the author really knows how to captivate the reader and fall in love with the characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes historical biographies.

Well that's all for now, in case I am not back on I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

feeling a little blue

So I am feeling a little blue today because things here are not going out as I had hoped. Its always hard to not get your hopes up about things because you know that they may not work out but when it doesn't work out you are still left feeling a little betrayed and blue. So that is where I am at this week. But I try not to dwell on the negative because it is now October and I have many things to look forward to.

As I have said before fall is my favorite time of year and October is my favorite month. It has all of my favorite things about fall; the cool crisp air, the leaves changing, apples and pumpkins and my birthday. So to make this month even better I think hubby and I are going up to Maine in a few weekends and for a New England fall you can't get better then Maine. Plus the L.L. Bean flagship store is located there, it is so big that they have 7 buildings; each one for different types of merchandise. Also I think that this weekend we are going to drive up the North fork and visit some wineries. I love me some wine!

In book news I am in the process of reading Brisingr, which is the third book in the Inheritance series and I am having a hard time with it. The first two books I thought were great but this one seems so juvenile compared to the others. Maybe I just didn't notice it before in the other ones but this book seems a little lame to me.

I guess that's all for now. I hope everyone is enjoying their fall!

Rainy Days Never Bring Me Down

Everyone knows the Song by The Carpenters, Rainy Days and Mondays but I think that I am one of the few people who they don't bring down. I love rainy days, sometimes I think there is nothing better then sitting inside watching your favorite movie or reading a good book while the rain is pouring down outside. Today is one of those days. I think after this I am going to go and out in one of my favorite movies make a cup of hot tea and enjoy the rain.

I hope everyone is enjoying there day and whatever weather they may be having!

Labor Day Wrap Up

So Labor Day weekend was a lot of fun for us. We went down to Delaware to hang out with my sister and her in-laws. On Sunday we spent the afternoon in Philadelphia and saw Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. We also walked around the Italian market there but was disappointed because most stores closed at 1 and we got there at 1:30, but it was still fun to walk around. On Monday we went to Longwood Gardens which is one of the most beautiful places I have seen. My brother-in-law's younger brother works there so we had a tour guide which was a lot of fun. After that we went back to his house (he lives on the garden's property) for dinner. Then we headed back home which takes about 3 1/2 hours and got home about midnight.

Not a lot is going on here just trying to stay positive, things are not exactly working out the way I had hoped. I have to remind myself that everything will work out in time and that things happen for reasons we may never know. And in the mean time I can focus on the good things like saying goodbye to Summer and Hello! to Fall. I also finished my biography on Elizabeth last week before the end of August so that made me happy. And I just finished the Age Of Innocence which I really enjoyed and I am now going to start a novel by George Elliott, I have never read any of her work so I am looking forward to trying here out.

Weekend Fun!

So last week I got some good news, my sister and her husband are coming to this side of the world for a week. My bro-in-law's family is from Delaware and they decided to come out here last minute so Hubby and I are spending the weekend with them. I am soooo excited because I haven't seen my sister in a while and I miss hanging out with her.

Hope everyone has a safe Holiday weekend!

Ready for Summer to be gone

So to catch up over the last few weekends; the first weekend in august we drove out to the Hamptons and went out to Montauk. It was a nice and slow drive. It took us almost 3 hours because of all the traffic heading out there for the weekend. After about 2 hours into the drive we got hit with a pretty bad storm so we didn't get to see much out there but we still had fun. On Sunday we went for a hike in a state park by us but let me just say this, hiking out here is nothing like hiking in Colorado. For the first part we could still hear cars driving by and the second part was in high grass that left you itching. Plus we brought home a few friends called ticks. I hate ticks! And nothing happened last weekend.

I am really looking forward to this weekend because Hubby and I are going on a mini road trip. We have some good friends getting married on Saturday in Ohio and hubby is a groomsman and instead of flying out there we are going to drive. Since we have been out here on Long Island we hardly get to spend any time together because of his work schedule, so I am excited to be in a car with him for about 8 hours!

This will probably also be one of our last big things before summer is over so I hope it goes well. But I have to say that I am ready for it to be gone and for Fall to begin. I love Fall, it is my favorite season and I love everything about it. The weather with its brisk days, pulling out my favorite sweaters and scarves and apple and pumpkin picking. But I will still enjoy the last hot days of summer before they go.

I am still trying to finish my biography but i only have about 6 chapters left. So wish me luck!

Time to Catch Up

Sorry that it has been so long since I last wrote. But not a lot is going here to write about. We have just been hanging out and enjoying our really hot and very humid summer here on the island.

So when last I wrote we were about to go out for our anniversary which was a lot of fun. On the third we got up and went into the city and spent the afternoon at the last museum I wanted to see which was the Natural History Museum. I don't know why but I absolutely love the taxidermy animals, they are always my favorites at the museums. And these did not disappoint. After that we went back to our hotel which was right on the East River and got ready for dinner, and if anybody ever gets the chance they MUST eat at the Mesa Grill. It was one of the best dinners I have ever had! On the fourth we ended up going to see the Yankees and the Red Sox play at Yankee Stadium which was cool because this is their last season there. After that we decided to just go home and spend the rest of the weekend by ourselves and forgo the Hampton's. So we ended up having a very nice relaxing weekend.

On another note I finished Elantris and I have to say I really enjoyed it. It was really different than any other Fantasy I have ever read. Even though it is a stand alone I would highly recommend this book. I am now trying to push through an Elizabeth biography that I have been reading for a couple of months. My goal is to finish before the end of the month but it may be pushed back to the end of August because July is almost over.

Well I guess that is all for now. Hope everyone is enjoying there summer.

rambling

Last week both of our moms came out to visit and I had a fabulous week of not doing to much and shopping! On Wednesday the 4 of us went into the city and did some major walking around Central Park. I finally got to see some places that I haven't seen before. One of my faves was the Bethesda Fountain.

On another note as most of you who know me know that I love to read. It is one of my favorite things to do. So I just want everyone out there to know that I am reading a new Fantasy author named Brandon Sanderson. It turns out that he is going to finish Robert Jordan's last book Memory Of Light so I though I would check out his style with this book called Elantris. When I am done with it I will let you know what its like.

Other than that not much is going on here in the Lewis house hold. Next Thursday is our 4 year anniversary and we have reservations at Mesa Grill in New York city. I am very excited because this is one of Bobby Flays restaurants! And then we are staying the night there and then its off to the Hampton's for the fourth of July weekend.

Maybe after that I will have more to write on.

It's been a while

I can't believe it's been over a month since I last posted. Not a lot has happened in that time. We are still getting settled in our refurbished barn. Hopefully the last of the major stuff will be completed while we are in Colorado this weekend. Hubby and I are really enjoying it out here long island, we are 5 minute walk from the north shore beaches and about a half hour drive to some really pretty south shore beaches. Long Island is so different then Connecticut, I didn't think it would be but it is. There are parts that you wouldn't think you would see out here. There are a lot of fields and farms and the north fork of the island is full of wineries, which I am looking forward to sampling.

This weekend is taking us back to Colorado, which we are looking forward to. We are spending Friday in Denver and can't wait to see our friends who we miss. On Saturday we are heading up to the springs for the rest of our visit which is a surprise to my in-laws since we are coming home for a surprise anniversary party for them.

That's all for now, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far!

A little note

We finally made it to Long Island and are set up in an extended stay hotel till our place is ready in about two weeks. There really isn't anything to tell other than I made a GREAT discovery today. For the past year and a half we have lived without a Chipotle and today I found one not 5 minutes from our hotel. This is one of our favorite places and am so happy to have in our state. Yum, I can't wait for dinner.

So much to do, so little time.

When we decided to make our new move we had only about two weeks to get everything done. Thankfully our apartment is very sparsely furnished, unlike when we moved out here we had 3 bedroom house and only 3 weeks to get everything done which we didn't, so my in-laws had to finish for us. So the first week I got everything packed except our room, bathroom and the kitchen, which really helped because I was in Colorado for the weekend. So on Tuesday the packing started all over again. With only two days left I am doing pretty good, I have finished the kitchen minus two appliances that will just be thrown into a box and when I am done with this little break I will start packing up our clothes. So hopefully all that will be left for tomorrow is some cleaning and on Saturday I will finish packing our room and clothes and then it's on to Long Island!

That's really all for now, with the stress of packing and moving not a lot is happening with us. Although yesterday I got a new book called Forest Mage by Robin Hobb, so I am ready for down time to start my new book. Our new place is situated in a forest like area and we have a pretty good size deck so I can't wait to sit outside, enjoy the fresh air while reading and enjoying a nice glass of chilled wine.

Packing is so boring!

So my hubby and I have recently decided to make a change in our lives and it comes in the form of moving boxes and packing tape. In a little over a week we will be residing on Long Island. I absolutely hate packing and am not looking forward to it but hubby works so much I am the only one who can do it. The really sucky part is that there is a pretty good chance that by the years end I will have packed up and moved yet again. Although when this move happens I will be ecstatic because we will be going home. But since nothing is ever set in stone there is no use thinking about that now.

In other news I will be going home this weekend to spend time with family and can't wait. I have a six month old niece that I haven't seen since she was born and a three year old one as well whom I miss. I am so excited!!

Hope all is well with everyone!!

Introduction to us

I am new to this whole blogging thing but am very intrigued by it so I though I would give it ago. Most people who read this already know me but if there any who don't here's a little information.

To begin I am in my mid twenties and have been married for almost 4 years. We are from Colorado but are currently living in one of the most boring places (sorry to those of you who live here) called Connecticut. But we are close to several cool places and my hubby and I like to travel on the weekend whenever we can. As stated before we travel a lot and it is one of my favorite things to do. I also enjoy reading and love nothing more then sitting on the couch with a blanket and a good book on a rainy day. My hobbies include scrapbooking and trying to cook, they are my ways to be creative. I currently am not working anywhere permanent but when there are jobs I am temping. My husband is an engineer and is working on helicopters right now. His main hobbies are hockey and golf. We are an odd mix because he loves being active and I love laying on the couch.

One other person who is a big part of our lives is our cat Monster. He is like our baby and spoil the heck out of him. He is just so cute!

So that was a little peek into who we are. Hope you enjoyed!
